Lammes Candies has been creating premium confections for over a century. Originally called the Red Front Candy Factory, Lammes Candies opened July 10, 1885, and has been family owned and operated ever since. Currently Lammes Candies has stores in eleven locations across Texas.
Lammes' large mail-order business was supported with paper records and limited software systems. The software was not Y2K compatible and with the holiday sales season approaching, they needed an effective replacement. They needed an on-line application to handle the candy orders from end-to-end. This application would accept and process orders year round, produce reports about what was being sold, and track orders from inception to delivery.
Our consultants collaborated with Lammes to determine the functionality they needed to help them fulfill orders. This included the ability to perform credit card transactions and a ZIP code lookup feature that allows staff to enter a ZIP code and retrieve the appropriate city and state. To shorten the employee learning curve, we designed the new tools to integrate with their established work processes. Multiple interfaces were created to allow for several types of users - from experienced employees to temporary help hired for the holiday rush.
The Web site allows customers to place orders and track their status. This centralized ordering system streamlines Lammes' business processes and reduces their overhead, while driving new direct sales.
