Golfers Against Cancer

Founded in the summer of 1997 by members of the Deerwood Club in Kingwood, Texas, Golfers Against Cancer (GAC) raises funds for cancer research. Golfers and non-golfers alike welcome the opportunity to honor friends and family affected by this disease. At its inaugural event, GAC raised over $80,000 and participation in the annual event has continued to grow.  Since 1997, the group has raised over $1.5 million for cancer research.

As part of our philanthropic pursuits, we have contributed consulting services supporting the annual tournament and fundraising events. We have designed and implemented an online registration system that enables event administrators to track the participants, sponsors, and contributors, as well as report monies raised.

GAC has many development needs. Providing an Internet presence was just the beginning of our relationship with GAC. As a volunteer supported organization, our solution succeeds in providing a central repository for storage and retrieval of key information on their members and expanding donor base.

We designed and developed an extensive Web site that incorporated order forms for fundraising items and registration forms for events utilizing on-line credit card transactions.

For the 2000 tournament, we created a Web-based registration system that tracked participants' level of sponsorship, tourney foursomes and the course description. This robust system has the ability to generate a large number of reports that display anything from the date a donation was received to the t-shirt size of the participant.

We continue to work closely with the board and volunteers to identify and implement better methods for sharing information within the organization. Together, we are utilizing the Web site as a tool to collect and manage registrations and donations, and most importantly, convey their fundamental mission of finding a cure for cancer.

We are proud of the pro bono work we do in the non-profit sector. The Web site reaches out and connects to the community and constituency. Our work helps Golfers Against Cancer raise funds for vital research.
